It is hard to believe I am am finally at the infamous White Swan hotel in Guangzhou. It is certainly much different from the Mandarin Garden in Nanjing. I swear every family I've seen so far is an adoptive family. We already checked out the play room and Xin Yi had a great time. I'm sure we'll be down there quite a bit (when we aren't out shopping that is!). We saw some really cute stores on the way here. I plan to stock up on clothes, shoes, DVDs, CDs and gifts\souvenirs while we are here. Our schedule is pretty light, so there should be lots of time for that.
The flight here went great. Xin Yi snacked during take off, fell asleep for most of the flight, then woke up to snack during landing. She was upset this morning when I was packing up our stuff and was not happy about getting in the new van with the new coordinator in Guangzhou. It was the first time she has cried, but she calmed down pretty quickly and now is good friends with the new coordinator, Elsie. She was so happy when our suitcase was delivered to our room and was pulling things out and talking very fast. I think she didn't realize that the stuff was coming with us even though the guides had explained things to her (maybe they left that part out). I'm glad she is feeling better now.
Our room here is very nice. Xin Yi has had a great time exploring it already. The other two families (both traveled to different provinces) should arrive this afternoon. It will be fun to see the Gregor family again (we toured Beijing with them) and to meet the Huang family. We will meet in the hotel lobby at 5 pm for a group dinner at a Thai restaurant. I'm looking forward to hitting the stores later today and tomorrow. Xin Yi is going to be one happy girl after mommy gets through shopping for her!
