Here are some pictures from Alana and Dylan's first trip to the ocean. Even though Collin has been to the ocean several times before, he doesn't remember those trips and didn't enjoy the sand and water on the previous trips. So, it was a new experience for everyone! The kids tore out into the water and I had the video camera rolling. Collin would walk out a little ways and turn and run back very fast when the waves came in. However, after a little while -- they got brave -- too brave. One set of waves came through when Dylan got a little too far out. They toppled him over and Victor had to rush out to pick him up. The same waves wiped Collin and Alana out too, but they are big enough that it didn't scare them much. Dylan was done after that though. Poor guy didn't even want to walk by the beach at first this morning, so I carried him. He did get brave enough to walk by himself after a while. I don't think he will be getting near the water any time soon. The older kids would really like to spend more time in the water, but we don't have time and it is really too cold anyway. The high was only around 60 today and it was overcast and a little wet. We are wearing long pants and jackets! It is somewhat ironic that it was probably warmer in KC than in San Diego today. I just can't seem to escape the cold this year!
