Sharing
Bet you thought we were past sharing issues, didn't you? Yep, so did I. I think the reason we've done pretty well is that Alana is comfortable with all the toys that we keep in common spaces and doesn't get too territorial over them. However, we are cleaning and shifting things around recently with the move and that seems to have brought this issue to the surface again. I found some play food in Collin's room yesterday and asked him to put it downstairs in the kitchen for everyone to play with. I noticed that as soon as Alana found it she was pretty exclusively playing with it, but it didn't seem too out of control. Later that night we were watching TV and I noticed that she was getting a little more possessive with the toys, but I let it go. Then I look down and she has put all the toys on the floor and is LAYING ON THEM so that Dylan can't touch or play with them. I sent her to bed, but probably should have gotten a picture of that one. I just don't know sometimes what is orphanage behavior, what is typical of a little girl, and what is just her personality. My boys are so great at sharing and it is so hard to watch Alana struggle to be nice. I'm starting to be afraid that she is going to have issues with her birthday presents. I still remember how she screamed out "Share, be nice" the moment Collin opened his birthday presents in September. I have the feeling she won't want to be on the receiving end of having to share her new presents. I know things will get better, but sometimes it is difficult to get through these lessons.
