Trip to Texas

Well, our trip went pretty well considering. The drive actually wasn't the worst part! We ended up deciding to leave Thursday night at the last minute. We left at 6:30 and stopped overnight just north of Oklahoma City at 11:30. The funny thing was that our kids didn't sleep the entire way -- not one of them. So we immediately went to bed upon arriving at the hotel, but it took some of us until 12:30 to get to sleep. We were all up at 6:30 in the morning though, so we had breakfast and were out the door a little after 8:00. We stopped in Temple, Texas where I used to work many moons ago. Wow, has it changed! We had a late lunch and made it to our condo around 5:30. It took us about 12 1/2 hours of driving time, and we really didn't stop all that much. The traffic in Austin was the worst part of the drive down.

On Saturday we got together with Victor's brother and his girls. We took the kids to the San Antonio Botanical Gardens where Dora and Diego were going to be. It was so nice spending time with Victor's nieces. We only see them every two to three years. The kids had such a nice time together and nobody wanted to leave, but we had to hurry up to the wedding. The wedding was beautiful as you can see from the pictures. We didn't stay long and all went to bed early that night. On Sunday we went down to the River Walk and took a boat ride. When I told Dylan we were taking a boat ride he said "scary", "pirates." It was so cute! I'm sure he was relieved there were no pirates on our boat.

We had dinner and visited with Eric more on Sunday afternoon. His girls had to go back to their mom's that morning though. We had a nice visit until the kids got really cranky. We got to bed early again and took off for KC at 4:30 Monday morning. We went through Austin at 5:30 in the morning and for once did not hit any traffic. We stopped in Hillsborough for breakfast and stopped in Wichita for a long lunch\dinner, but still made pretty good time getting home. We got home at 6:00 last night. What a relief!

We are taking it easy today. I am so glad that the trip went well. We might plan some more road trips next year now that we know the kids can make it. Thanks for all your positive thoughts and prayers! They worked!!
